What is it?
There are two different techniques used for applying permanent cosmetics: machine method (traditional technique) and hand method. Ooh la Lashes uses the Softap® hand method. The Softap® Hand Method began in 1988 and has earned the reputation of being the "The Most Natural Look in Permanent Cosmetics". The technique provides maximum comfort, faster healing than the traditional method and gives the most natural results. With the Softap® hand method, the technician has complete control, there is no machine noise and all supplies are 100% disposable.
All pigments used for permanent cosmetics are Softap® pigments and are hypo-allergenic.
Microblading, feathering or powder fill are all a form of tattooing. Unlike a regular tattoo, pigment is implanted under your skin with a handheld tool instead of a machine. Ultra fine hair-like strokes are drawn with the tool to mimic natural hairs in your brows. These methods can be used to fully reconstruct, define, cover gaps, or fill-in over plucked brows using fine deposits of cosmetic tattoo pigment. The size, shape and colour of your new brows will be tailored specifically for you whether you want bold, natural, light or dark we will customize them to suit individual needs. The pigments are designed to fade over time.Fading is desired as it allows the artist to make changes to the colour and shape over the years as the client's natural colouration and facial changes occur.
How Will I Look?
There is little to no downtime with most of my permanent make-up treatments, although certain skin types may vary. Brow and eye treatments tend to look darker in colour immediately after the appointment. This softens in a few days. New skin will start to heal over, and they will soften to a beautiful shade for your skin tone, usually with in 5-7 days. The treated area may feel a bit like a sunburn afterwards, but there should be almost no discomfort. During the initial healing period, there should be minimal scabbing or flaking. If they do scab or flake, do not pick or itch the area. Apply Recoverall ointment to soothe them. During the healing process, your tattoo will soften and lighten. Be patient, even if you think too much color has been lost, your skin is regenerating and naturally exfoliating. Wait at least 6 weeks to see the true color, as it seems to take on new strength. After the 6th week your true color will be more evident.
Does It Hurt?
A highly-effective, topical anesthetic cream and gel are used for numbing before and during your procedure. Many of my clients say "I don't feel a thing!" However, pain threshold levels vary from person to person and every effort is made to ensure you remain comfortable. Having this service performed during your menstrual cycle may increase discomfort during your procedure. If you are a frequent smoker, the topical anesthetics used during the treatment will not last as long. If you have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, be aware that this may affect your sensitivity tolerance to the procedure.
How Long Does It Last?
Cosmetic tattoo treatments are considered semi-permanent and will not wash off, however, they will fade over time and may need to be refreshed every 1-2 years. Frequency of touch-ups depends on a number of factors including: the pigment color used (lighter colors fade faster), lifestyle (sun exposure), and if any chemical peels come into contact with treated areas. Please note that final results CAN NOT be guaranteed as each unique skin type will hold pigments differently and break down at different rates. We will re-evaluate how your skin has received the pigment at your perfecting appointment and make any changes necessary. Color boosts are normal for cosmetic tattoo procedures, with each new procedure requiring at least 2 visits. The initial procedure followed by a perfecting procedure about 6 weeks later. Previously tattooed areas will generally always require additional appointments
*Your eyebrow tattoo will eventually look softer and have more of a "powdered" look. This happens with all clients as the skin ages. To keep your hair strokes looking crisp, a refresher appointment is suggested every 1 to 2 years. Results vary with each client.
Is Cosmetic Tattooing For Me?
If you are a frequent smoker, your pigment may fade sooner. If you are iron deficient or Anemic, your pigment may fade sooner and bleeding/bruising may occur during and after the procedure.
* All procedures include a 6 week perfecting visit
PLEASE NOTE: If you have had previous cosmetic tattooing and are interested in a cover-up/re-work, you MUST email a clear photo PRIOR to booking your appointment. I cannot guarantee results for cases such as these and must approve that your area is workable. In some cases where the previous work is too dark, dense, discolored, or large, tattoo removal will be highly recommended before we begin the cover-up/re-work. Previously tattooed areas and cover-ups will almost always require additional touch-ups for best results and will be charged accordingly
